Pacific Journalism Review is an influential academic journal. Mainly focusing on media issues and communication phenomena in the Pacific region, Asia Pacific region, Australia, and New Zealand. Adopting a double-blind peer review system ensures the quality and academic level of the published articles. It provides an important communication platform for scholars, researchers, and media professionals, which helps to promote the development of media research in the region and facilitate in-depth understanding and exploration of related fields.

It covers a wide range of topics, including news theory and practice research in the Pacific region, as well as new research areas that reflect the broader impact of contemporary media practices and education. It particularly focuses on the cultural politics of media, such as new media and social movements, local culture in the era of globalization, the politics of tourism and development, the role of media in the formation of national identity, and the cultural influence of New Zealand as a global economic branch in the Pacific region. In addition, the journal has a special interest in climate change, environmental and developmental research in media communication, and local media in the region.
