The Bulletin of the Geological Society of America focuses on publishing landmark research in various disciplines of Earth science, including but not limited to geology, geophysics, geochemistry, paleontology, mineralogy, petroleum geology, environmental geology, and geological engineering. The journal particularly welcomes high-quality papers that are rich in data, mature in research, and can stimulate broad interest, that is, research that is of great significance to one or more sub disciplines of earth science.

In addition, emphasizing the quality of persistent archiving of papers means that the published research must not only have high relevance and influence in the current context, but also be able to withstand the test of time and become a classic reference for future researchers. This pursuit of long-term value has earned BGSA a high status in the field of earth sciences. To ensure the quality and innovation of the published research, a strict peer review process is implemented. Experts from around the world conduct in-depth reviews of submitted papers to ensure that each study meets the highest academic standards in the field.
